A stiring comeback produced an important win for the Cal Lutheran women’s volleyball team in playoff action Thursday.
Down 2-1 in games, the Regals rallied for a 16-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-18, 15-11, victory over Puget Sound in the first round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championships at Redlands.
Freshman setter Jackie Russell notched 51 assists, junior Erin Exline finished with a match-high 18 kills on 33 attempts. Freshman Rachel Smith had 12 kills and a match-high 25 digs. Senior Cori Hayes had 13 kills and junior Allison Kerr finished with 10 kills and eight digs as Cal Lutheran improves to 21-11.
The Regals, seeded No. 5, will take on No. 1-seed Colorado College today at 4:30 p.m.

Ventura: Kayla Phipps had 11 kills, three blocks and three aces, and Chelsea O’Mara had 11 kills. Justine O’Connor had 32 assists and Taylor Edsell had 16 digs.
